I am also available for training, consultancy and key note speches in the Uk and the USA although I am very interested in going to other parts of the world. In fact my favourate training was in Russia where we did an activism workshop culminating in a demonstration for accessiblbe transport in Moscow!!! My fees are always negotiable depending on the organisation its make up and its funding. I sometimes do free but always make a donation to grass roots movements either local or national. Sometimes I think I am just money laundering operation.

The topics I feel I have some experience on include Disability Arts and Culture, Creating and implementing positive policies. Advocacy, Inclusion for disabled Children and young people, Social Care and Health, Effective Consultation.

TRAINING

I have been training for over 20 years on DIsability and Equality. I usually design training from scratch to meet the needs of the Client. As an early practitioner of Disability Equlaity Training I have designed and implemented ground breaking materials over the last 20 years which are still used by other trainers today. All of my training is based on the Social Model of Disability and the importance of disabled people in the solutions to the problems we all face.

Before embarking on training I was in the Education field as a fully trained and qualified Youth and Community worker. I then started up my own business until 1999 when I became a senior policy advisor on disability to Birmingham City Council in the Uk. I have worked with and for Disability Equality in Education (DEE) as a senior trainier developing training and policy around inclusion in Schools in early years provision and after school.

I have also worked with Professor Mike Oliver from the University of Greenwich who coined the term Social Model of DIsability through this work we have developed new insights on how Authorities approach delivering on disabilty equality issues.

My training uses a varied methodology and a range of styles designed to include participants and help them find the answers for themselves. My training is connected to other areas of equality such as racism sexism and heterosexism and makes the links between all aspects of equalities. As in another world I am a performer and have been a stand up comic (or a sit down one as needs must) my training always include humour.

I have enjoyed much success as a consultant on disability issues. Consultancy's have lasted from a few day to over a year. I also include in this section my recent experience as Disability Equality Manager for Birmingham City Council.
